I know this isn't the best photograph and it's not really art...but I got three hyper dogs to sit together long enough to take a photo so that's gotta count for something....this is just an update on my life for my watchers.
Introducing Macey!! Anyone who has known me long enough, knows about my French bulldogs. Before the Frenchies, I had a mixed breed named Jack. He passed away two years ago this August at the age of 16. He was the love of my life. I felt like my life and my little pack was no longer complete without him. Until one day, while browsing Facebook, I came across Macey (a German shorthaired pointer/ Beagle cross). She was in need of a home so I applied to rescue her. And here she is! All of her hyper, crazy, loving, energetic and wonderful self. I wouldn't trade her for the world and it feels like she's always been here. She is not replacing Jack, nor could she ever. My heart has just grown a little bit bigger by giving that love to another life. My pack is complete again.
I am happiest with three dogs.
And remember, animal adoption saves lives. My Frenchies were purchased from breeders, and I admit it was much easier to raise puppies than to take in a five year old dog with a history of poor obedience and frequent moves/losses. But my God, it's worth it. If you want easy, purchase. If you want to watch a dog blossom into their best possible self...adopt
It's worth it and the rewards outweigh the risks. It has taken a lot of obedience training, actually getting bitten on the leg trying to break up a fight between her and Da Vinci (yikes), and lots of love and patience to create a bond. She is a hunting breed, so she will never be allowed to wander freely (did that once, took an hour to get her back). She is my running partner and my fierce protector against the evil rabbit overlords (As I can only assume they are evil overlords by her violent reaction upon seeing snowshoe hares). And she is worth every struggle so far
